Why Should You Add Supplemental Insurance?

Vision and Dental Insurance are for most people the most tangible of supplemental insurance. Vision coverage often helps with the cost of an eye exam and with the cost of materials such as contact lenses and glasses. Some vision plans also have more of an indemnity approach providing larger lump sum coverage for certain eye surgeries such as cataracts, retinal detachments and cornea transplants.

Dental insurance helps reduce the cost of major dental services such as crowns, extractions and fillings. Most all dental insurance will have waiting periods for some services. Cleanings and exams are covered in most plans although they may not be at 100% of the cost.

Some dental plans will have networks, meaning you must use a dentist that accepts that insurance. And some dental plans have deductibles however they are typically much lower than what you would experience with health insurance.
